Stereospeak

"In a city fervently searching for the next brilliant band hiding just under-the-radar, all eyes and ears need to be pointed in the direction of young trio Stereospeak. These gents are quietly making some of the best written, recorded and performed tunes you'll hear in 2012 from any Illinois-based artist. Soaked in 90's Brit-rock introspection and sporting out-and-out chops, these guys are well on their way to waking Chicago up to their soon-to-be-discovered brilliance. Though gaining some attention with their self-titled 2010 EP, this year's tremendous Jurassic hits high marks with its innocent, undeniable hooks. It's one of those rare, early releases that when Stereospeak is taking over years from now, folks will clamor on eBay for. Memories of Radiohead's pop-heavy, yet airy debut album Pablo Honey are all over the one-two punch of Jurassic's opening cuts, "Probably Wrong" and "I Can't Think Why," as well as the breathy ballad "Face The Change": Vocals pulse and echo; clean guitars shimmer; harmonies swoon. The brit-pop influence is also prevalent through the gorgeous group sing-a-long on "Me Without Fear" and the Oasis-like, bluesy swagger of both "Current Current" and "Below The Earth." These kinds of blissful, perfectly executed moments are expected from road veterans, not rookies, but that's what we get all throughout this majestic, headphone-preferred disc. This could easily be the best EP Chicago has going for it this year."

Jon Jandai - Life is easy!

"Before I thought that stupid people like me … cannot have a house… because people who are cleverer than me and get a job need to work for 30 years to have a house. But for me, who cannot finish university, how can I have a house? It's hopeless for people who have low education like me. But when I start to do earthen buildings, it's so easy! I spent two hours per day… and in 3 months I have a house. A friend who was the most clever in the class he has a house too but he has to be in debt for 30 years, so compared to him I have 29 years and 10 months of free time. I feel life is so easy."

Ear Food: Moose Records

From Paris, the musical genius and upcoming musical entrepreneur, Andrea, creates in his studio. His music touches a realm that few producers in the current electronic age are able to convey. His often lush soundscapes in combination with his textured beats create very full compositions that leave listeners open to Andrea's true heart and obvious soul he puts into his music. His newest undertaking has been the foundation of his new label, Moose Records. (Moose Records Website) To start the release off with a bang, Andrea and fellow label mates such as Kodak to Graph, Dream Koala, Slamagotchi, Mosaicc, along with many others, have put together the first mixtape from Moose Records.

MooseTape#1 can be heard and downloaded for free by clicking on this Link to the Moose Bandcamp. This is a great team of artists that deliver quality production. The very relaxing beats help keep me calm, while still at times I find my head bobbing when hearing the very playful, yet beat heavy Slamagotchi and others. Be on the look out for more releases from Moose Records in the future.
 Tracklist:
1- Bear//Face – Taste My Sad
2- Catching Flies – Let Your Hair Down
3- Julia Losfelt – Mojo So Dope (Kid Cudi cover)
4- Atu – Still Here
5- Dream Koala – We Can’t Be Friends
6- Keadz – Or Jaune
7- Slamagotchi – Too Early
8- Mosaicc – Comatose
9- Leaks – The Only Place For You And Me
10- Kwala x Kondra Kasma – Goldblummer

Remember, you heard it from The Natural Collective. Stay tuned for more groundbreaking music found here on The Natural Collective.

A Glimpse of Art: Charles Greenberg

Charles Greenberg is an incredibly talented artist and friend from the Panhandle of Florida. His main mediums are ceramics and paintings. However, he is not limited to anything and he experiments with anything he finds interesting. That's my kind of artist. Charles describes the process of what motivates and inspires his personal work in his statement:
"My work describes proverbial events in the subjective space of everyday. Working with color, form and composition I explore the bond between the emotional and observant retort using a carefree, flowing, primal attitude towards making; turning these otherwise ordinary moments into uncanny images that are questioned to a simplified rational. And, for a moment the intangible flimsy nature of feeling/thoughts can be experienced as external and personified by material. This allows me to come to terms with the apparent world and my internalization of it. In doing so I reveal new kinds of meaning reinvented within the contours of the canvas, a place where formality and intuition can coexist."

The Benefit of Using Plant Based Plastics

PLANT PLASTIC, written and directed by Pierson Jacquelin & Jessica O’Byrnea, is a film that explores the benefits of using plant based plastics. It is a great look into the future of materials manufacturing as the world turns to new ideas and technologies to save the health of the planet. It is exciting to think about the day when the new vehicles of the world will be made entirely out of plant based materials allowing them to be just as strong, renewable, and able to perform even better than the industrial age's heavy metal gas sluggers due to the decreased weight. It reminds me of a car that Henry Ford built in 1941, made almost entirely out of plant based materials and designed to run on vegetable oil as a fuel. It's a shame we haven't been building cars like this all along and it makes me wonder, why?

Some Great Knives!

Looking at the intricate construction of the Twitches reminds us of the workings in a fine chronograph watch; everything right and precisely in its place. These techno wizards feature a pass-through lockbar (patent pending) from which the "kick" of the blade sticks through. By pressing on the "kick", one is able to initiate the opening of the blade. S.A.T. SOG Assisted Technology ™ then takes over to finish opening and to securely lock the blade open. What makes these space-age little gems even more beautiful is that they are also affordable!
